A Letter to the Class of 2020
Dear Class of 2020,
We are so sorry that you are at home. We know this is the time to be out with your friends and loved ones, celebrating one of the most significant milestones of your lives. We know some people will never understand how much you all have waited for this day. There's so much more than imagining moments, such as your parents cheering for you walking across the stage or shaking the president's hand when receiving that degree — it's about living them.
Please understand that you have every right to feel upset, angry, and fearful. The universe was not in your favor; we get it. We can assure you that when you look back on this year, you will be grateful that a unique generation of individuals, such as yourselves, are healing the world by staying at home.
We are so proud of your accomplishments; nothing and no one can take that away from you. This pandemic is just another obstacle you will overcome.
And remember, a celebratory ceremony isn’t why you did this. You did this to prove to yourself and others that you could do it. You got a degree to elevate yourself. You achieved a huge goal you set. Yeah, that ceremony would’ve been nice. But no one can take that education away. Not another human and definitely not this pandemic. You are above and beyond that now. Take your newfound knowledge and soar to new heights. Land that dream job. Secure that promotion. Be proud of yourself.
Congrats, love and well wishes,
Dellanee and Erin
