Personality Quiz (Erin)

These last few weeks, we have been stripped of all forms of social interaction. Whether we are experiencing fear, uncertainty, anxiety, financial issues, managing household needs, we must stay home. It is advised that we self-quarantine.

What's there to do during this global pandemic? Here is something Erin and I have suggested for us to make our time quarantined and work as enjoyable as possible, but also fun and productive — a personality quiz. This week, find out more about Erin, and feel free to answers these questions for yourself.

Full name? Erin Alyse Pyles Smith

Where were you born? Born in Shreveport, raised in Mansfield, LA

Where did you graduate from high school? Central School Corporation in Grand Cane, LA

What was their mascot? The Pioneers (Y’all when I was a kid, we had “Pioneer Day.” We’d have to dress up as a pioneer and then do old-timey activities. With this quarantine stuff, I’ve actually been thankful that I can remember how to churn butter from 1st grade. LOL!)

When did you graduate from high school? May 2004

Where did you get your bachelor’s? LSUS 2008 (Technically my degree is general studies. I gamed the system to get my credits to transfer. I ended up with a Public Relations degree, minus a foreign language and graduated in exactly 4 years. I made that TOPS money stretch!)

Do you have any other degrees? an Associates in Telecommunications from BPCC with a concentration in broadcasting

Fave color? Green, yellow and orange are my colors

Fave font right now? Moon (our font ;-))

Fave brand/designer you follow? Brand: Target and Wendy’s

Fave musician? Twenty One Pilots and Foster the People

Fave movie? Currently, Jumanji: The Next Level or Birds of Prey

Fave TV show? Bob’s Burgers

Dogs or cats? Dogs, but both LOL!

Fave decade style? 50s-ish

Fave social media channel right now? Instagram

Why did you decide to be a PR/Marketer?  So I had a sportscasting teacher at BPCC that told me if I ever wanted to have a family or see them, I shouldn’t go into the news business. I really wanted those things, so he suggested I try PR. Once I switched it, I was hooked!

What do you love most about marketing/advertising? So much! I enjoy the aspect that allows us to inform and educate people. Without marketing and advertising, we wouldn’t know about products or services that make our lives better, easier and healthier.

What do you do to get your creative juices flowing? Walk away from the computer, get something to drink and sit in a different space. I like to go outside when possible or start a conversation with a coworker or friend that has nothing to do with what I’m working on. It gives the creative/strategic side of my brain time to regroup. I also LOVE a good white board sesh with other folks. I really like involving people that have NOTHING to do with what I’m working on because they often offer ideas and perspectives that I’ve never considered.

Do you have siblings? What number of children are you? Yep, one sister. She’s 7 years younger.

What’s your horoscope sign? Cancer the crab

Go-to snack? Chips and salsa or white cheddar popcorn

Fave order at Starbucks? Salted cream cold foam cold brew

Most played song on your playlist? Ha…right now, it’s Nobody Speak by DJ Shadow. LOL! It gets me pumped to take on the world! (And is very explicit so I only listen to it when the kids aren’t with me!)

What’s a quote that inspires you? “Your mind is a weapon. Keep it loaded.” - unknown and "Mind what you have learned. Save you it can." - Yoda

Why do you think it’s important to have interns and work with students? They’re the next generation, and despite the awesome professors they have, there are things that just can’t be taught in the classroom. Real world experience is so key. Plus, the added benefit is that they often have ideas that are very out-of-the-box simply because they don’t know what boxes exist! They’re inspiring!

Dream job? I want to be a manager/CEO that inspires people and builds employees up to be the best they can be.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Managing Maltshop and turning it into a marketing powerhouse/empire with national and/or international clients. I’ll have a kid in college and another in high school. Hopefully I’ll be financially stable enough and healthy so that Robbie and I can travel and eat lots of great food!
